Advanced cancer treatment technology
The LewisGale Regional Cancer Center at Pulaski offers our patients an advancement in radiation therapy with an advanced linear accelerator that uses highly precise dose rates, delivered with speed and accuracy, for anywhere in the body where a patient’s oncologist recommends radiation treatment. Previously, if there were significant changes in a patient’s anatomy during the course of treatment or if a tumor was near a critical body structure, those challenges made it difficult for clinicians to target and deliver radiation treatment.
This technological advancement addresses these technical challenges—particularly for cancers of the head and neck, breast, lung and prostate—by continuously monitoring tumor movement and helping radiation oncologists deliver radiation only when the tumor is in the right place. The combination of 2D, 3D and 4D imaging used during treatments allow each patient’s radiation oncologist to view more detailed images and determine more personalized treatment plans.
Accredited Cancer Center
LewisGale Regional Cancer Center at Pulaski earned the Silver Level Commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). To earn this prestigious accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.
How to get to the cancer center
The LewisGale Regional Cancer Center at Pulaski is located on the east side of the LewisGale Hospital Pulaski campus, between the Emergency Room and Lee Highway. You may park in the cancer center lot. Once you park, walk through the designated cancer center entrance.
