Diagnostic testing at LewisGale Medical Center
The clinical laboratory services provided at LewisGale Medical Center allow for early detection, intervention and treatment for several conditions. Specimen collection and samples taken at your doctor's office are analyzed at our diagnostic lab and returned so your doctor can quickly and accurately create a treatment plan for you.

Clinical laboratory services
Our technologists use advanced diagnostic lab testing on specimen collections, such as:
- Blood samples
- Urine samples
- Sperm samples
- Stool samples
- Sputum samples
- Throat cultures
- Glucose tolerance
Additional screening and testing are offered by our imaging services unit.
Locating our diagnostic laboratory
We are located within LewisGale Medical Center, on the first floor across the hall from the medical intensive care unit (MICU). You will need to provide any paperwork from your participating provider to the outpatient registration desk which is accessible through the main hospital entrance.
Parking is available behind the ER and outside the main entrance. Valet parking is available for your convenience. After registration, patients are directed to the diagnostic lab.
We have a designated waiting room with a buzzer to alert staff of your arrival, which should be used if you plan to arrive after 3:30pm. Our lab does not take appointments, only walk-ins. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Diagnostics and laboratory at LewisGale Regional Health System
Diagnostic and laboratory testing are used to help further understand patient conditions. Diagnostic testing occurs when physicians require more information for evaluation and/or diagnosis of a patient. Examples of laboratory tests include biopsies, blood tests and urine samples.
