Having a child can be an overwhelming experience, especially for first-time mothers. That's why we're so proud to be one of only a few facilities that offer a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1. Because you'll have a nurse who is solely dedicated to caring for you throughout your delivery, you'll build a greater level of comfort and trust that is so important throughout the labor, delivery, and recovery process.

LDRP Suites
We're the Valley's only birthing center offering specially designed suites that allow moms to stay in one room throughout their stay. Our LDRP suites have been designed to meet all of the medical needs of mothers and their babies, while offering a home-like environment that includes tasteful decorations and furnishings that help make the stay as comfortable as possible for the entire family. Stork Parking
No more searching for parking spaces. Dedicated parking spaces located right in front of the hospital make the trip to the hospital for delivery as easy as possible.
Special Tours
This will be one of the most exciting experiences of your life, so we invite moms, dads, and the entire family to participate in our special tours through the Maternity Care Center.
Marquis Dinner
A scrumptious New York Strip, Stuffed Chicken sautéed to perfection, or a delectable Rock Lobster Tail. It’s your choice -- if you choose to deliver your baby at Lewis-Gale Medical Center.
Lewis-Gale Maternity Care Center, in conjunction with the hospital’s Dietary Services Department, now offers a complimentary Five-Star celebration dinner for maternity patients. In addition to the exceptional fare, the Marquis Meal is served with fine stemware, silverware, china, and linens, accompanied by flowers and candlelight.
“We want to create a memorable experience for our patients,” states Wren Roberts, Director of Dietary Services at Lewis-Gale. “Our goal is to create an intimate, relaxing experience before parents take their newborns home.”
Heading Home
Our care doesn't end when you leave the Maternity Care Center. Most moms have questions that arise after leaving the hospital. That's why we offer several special programs that are specially designed to meet the needs of new mothers and their babies.
We offer a registered nurse who is available, 24-hours-a-day, for those moments when you have a question or concern, or just need some simple reassurance. Just pick up a phone and call 540.776.4268 anytime.
Our Baby Express was the first at-home post-delivery care service in the Roanoke Valley. Open to all families who delivered at Lewis-Gale Maternity Care Center, this program includes a visit (scheduled at the family's convenience) from a trained obstetric nurse. With portable baby scales and other supplies, the nurse can check up on the progress of mother and baby, and answer and questions you may have, from safety issues to nursing concerns.
